That's The Night That The Lights Went Out In Houston

Me: "All the power is out! It's a complete blackout on my end of Houston! No TV! No Internet! NO AIR CONDITIONER!!!"

Will: "Merry Widow, calm down. "

Me: "But it's getting dark out! I'm gonna be left alone! In the dark! People are gonna start looting and pillaging!!! AND THERE'S NO AIR CONDITIONER!!!"

Will: "Merry Widow, why don't you take this opportunity to light some candles, close your eyes, focus, breathe, meditate, find your inner-self, find peace, Or..."

Me: "Yeah???"

Will: "You can masterbate."

I'm sorry you didn't have electricity last night.

But, man, I did and the news was so friggin' annoying. You would have thought y'all'd been attached or something. They extended the 10:00 news to cover the power outages.

On one channel, the reporter was interviewing the manager of a hotel that didn't have power. The reporter said: "So, describe for me the difference in what you see when you drove home last night and here tonight."

The manager looked at him like he was an idiot and said, "Uh, well, I don't see anything now."

Darbi: LOL. I would have totally welcomed your visit!!! I actually considered just heading over to your house but then a very good friend came over and kept me company until the power came back on. He played guitar and I got to accompany him with my bass! Those lessons that you gave me totally payed off.

Madmanan: I bet you wish your power would have gone off last night too, eh?

Valerie: Wow. I didn't realize that the outage was that big of a deal. I would have been annoyed with the news too!

A week ago I would have called you a big baby, but now that I have been exposed to what I will call "Texas heat that makes you want to live inside the refrigerator", I will only say you are clearly strong and brave and deserving of a medal from congress.

See - anyone can tell you what you WANT to hear. A true friend will tell you what you NEED to hear. Glad you survived. :-)

Thank you so much for your kind words - it is an honor for me to do what I do, because it allows me to be a little part of someone's life when they are going through their worst times. I think you are an amazing young woman, just from reading your posts, and I admire you tremendously. I'm SO glad to have "met" you.

MW...we were in the same boat.

Our power stayed out until almost midnight. But with my little ones, we wussed out and headed for a hotel. :-P

No A/C is one thing. No A/C living in TEXAS is an entirely different issue.
